Yeast infections are a common problem experienced by women. To a lesser extent, they also affect men and are known as ‘jock itch’. Vinegar

If the location is very irritated, burning may result.

Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol doesn’t only kill germs, it kills fungi as well. Obviously, this method should only be used externally. Rubbing or isopropyl alcohol usually comes in strengths of 50 percent, 70 percent and 91 percent. The stronger it is, the more effective it will be. Simply douse a piece of cloth or a folded up paper towel with the alcohol, press it to the affected area and hold it there for at least one minute. It is likely to burn due the irritation caused by the yeast, but you can rest assured that it will take care of your problem.

Neem Oil

This oil is pressed from the fruit and leaves of the Neem tree. The tree is native to India where it is used for a wide array of ailments. It possesses antibacterial, spermicidal and antiviral properties and is also an antifungal. For vaginal use, apply some neem oil to a cotton ball and insert. For external use, rub it into the affected areas. Neem oil has a pungent aroma and the infection may take a couple of days to go away, but it’s one yeast infection home remedy that works.

Probiotics

Just as beneficial bacteria live inside of the digestive system, they are also present in the vagina. When levels of these good bacteria are low, the bad bacteria and yeasts can take over and cause an infection. Taking a probiotic supplement is not a quick solution, but it will decrease the likelihood of developing another. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can do what some women have tried with great success: Use the juice from raw, home-fermented sauerkraut as a douche. This delivers a massive population of healthy bacteria right where they’re needed most.

Avoid Sugar

As delicious as sugar is, it is your body’s sworn enemy. The consumption of refined sugar and other processed carbohydrates have been linked to health problems ranging from immune suppression and diabetes to heart disease and cancer. However, sugar in the diet has also been found to directly promote a yeast infection. Your immune system would normally help keep these yeasts’ numbers under control, but it can’t when it is weakened. Furthermore, fungi love to feed on sugar because it provides a rich source of easily utilized energy. This allows them to breed to the point of infection. Most people who suffer from chronic yeast infections find that cutting sugar from their diet is the best remedy.

Wear Breathable Pants

Because yeast needs warmth, moisture and little moving air to thrive, constricting or densely woven garments are a common factor in developing infections. Clothes that hug the body too tightly or are made from denim or leather allow almost no air circulation to take place. The problem can be even worse when the summer heat makes you sweat.
